The Golden Finch Redesignfall 2023
Book Design / Experimental Photography
Dimensions: 6 x 8 in
In this redesign of The Goldfinch, I used scanning and scanograms to introduce texture and photographic depth. The goal was to challenge the traditional format while echoing the themes of the novel. Theo, the main character, holds onto a stolen painting a piece of his past and his mother. I imagined what it would feel like, as a young artist, to carry that with you. He moves a lot, so I reimagined the book as a portfolio a container that travels with him, growing heavier with meaning over time.
