Mail Art was a pop-up exhibition campaign created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, focusing on the debut of a complete 20-postcard set from the early Bauhaus era, Postkarte für die Bauhaus. The project posed a specific question: how do you honor something historic without simply copying it?
The response was to design from the inside out. Visual cues from postal aesthetics, such as borders, stamps, and hierarchical structure, were filtered through a Bauhaus grid to develop an identity that felt connected to the original without being an exact replica. The design imagines what early Bauhaus designers might have created a century later, with the same instincts but in a different era.
Tactile details carry the concept through the space. A mailbox handle doubles as a lighting feature, serving as a clever, functional visual metaphor. Bold primary colors stay true to the Bauhaus color legacy. The layouts emphasize clarity and playfulness, creating an exhibition environment that feels both
historical and lively.
